The Philadelphia Flyers, Nashville Predators, and Vegas Golden Knights all completed linked deals prior of the Seattle Kraken expansion draft’s roster freeze on Saturday.
The Flyers transferred center Nolan Patrick and defender Philippe Myers to Nashville in exchange for defenseman Ryan Ellis, who subsequently dealt Patrick to Vegas in exchange for center Cody Glass.

After defender Matt Niskanen’s unexpected retirement in October 2020, the Flyers were never able to replace him, and they suffered as a result. Nolan Patrick’s rating is based mostly on who he is rather than what the Knights think he can become. In 197 NHL games, he has 70 points. After recovering from a migraine condition that held him out from April 2019 to January 2021, he was a bottom-six forward for the Flyers. His coach obviously did not provide him with the opportunity to grow into a top-tier offensive center. His current general manager wasn’t with the Flyers when he was chosen, thus he was just traded for a 30-year-old defender.
He’s a player in desperate need of a new beginning. He’ll get one, perhaps with Mark Stone at his side. He’s a player who needs his teammates’ help, and with McCrimmon in charge, he’ll receive it.
Again, we can’t get too excited because Nolan Patrick is who he is at the moment, and he has had health issues throughout his career. However, another No. 2 overall pick was moved from an Eastern Conference club to a Western Conference team and quickly became a member of the NHL All-Star team. Tyler Seguin, on the other hand, has already had a greater offensive effect in his first three seasons than Patrick.
