LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – Southland County made progress Monday on vaccinating residents as the number of hospitalizations and illnesses continues to decline.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported 516 new confirmed cases of COPID-19 and nine additional fatal cases, bringing the total for the county to 1,214,683 and 22,806 fatal cases. Officials said the lower number was likely due to a delay in reporting over the weekend.

Of the nine new deaths, five were over the age of 80, one was between the ages of 65 and 79, one was between the ages of 50 and 64 and two were between the ages of 30 and 49.

According to the Department of Health, nearly 3,235,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to people in Los Angeles County. Of those vaccinated, 1,057,794 received a second dose. With test results for nearly 6,018,000 people, the district’s overall positivity rate remained steady at 19%. The daily positive test response rate was 1.5%.

ORANGE COUNTRY

The Orange County Health Department has reported 102 cases and one additional death, bringing the total in the state to 249,641 cases and 4,608 deaths. Of those who contracted the virus, 241,271 have recovered.

The hospital admitted 195 patients with the coronavirus, 50 of whom were treated in intensive care.

More than 430,000 people were fully vaccinated, including 408,443 with Pfizer or Moderna’s two-dose vaccine and 21,936 with Johnson & Johnson’s one-dose vaccine. For more information on who is eligible and how to make an appointment, please visit the District’s website.

With test results available for over 3,254,316, the overall national positivity rate was 7.7%, although the seven-day average was 2.2%.

COASTAL CIRCLE

Riverside County health officials reported another 182 cases and 24 deaths, bringing the total for the county to 293,149 cases and 4,141 deaths. Of those who contracted the virus, 285,805 have recovered.

According to health officials, 820,986 doses of the vaccine have been administered to residents of the district, 475,872 doses have been partially vaccinated and 264,790 doses have been fully vaccinated. With test results available for nearly 2,651,400, the overall national positivity rate was 11%, although the seven-day average was 3.3%.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

San Bernardino County health officials reported 73 new confirmed cases and 44 additional deaths, bringing the county’s total to 289,846 cases and 3,692 deaths. Of those who contracted the virus, 284,839 recovered.

There were 166 coronavirus patients admitted to the hospital, 39 of whom were treated in intensive care.

With test results available for more than 2,645,000 people, the overall national positivity rate was 11%, although the seven-day average was 2.7%.

BOARD OF VENTURA

Ventura County health officials have reported 129 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and another seven fatalities, bringing the county total to 79,219 and 950 deaths. Of those who contracted the disease, 77,903 recovered.

Thirty-four patients with coronavirus were admitted to the hospital, 11 of whom were treated in intensive care.

Ventura County reported the administration of 343,200 doses of COVID-19 vaccine: 235,581 first doses and 107,619 second doses. For more information on who is eligible and how to make an appointment, please visit the District’s website.

With test results available for more than 1 229 098 people, the overall positive rate was 6.5%, although the seven-day average was 2.8%.
