Anfernee Penny Hardaway is still one of the most exciting players the NBA has ever seen. The atypical combination of a 6’7 frame with tight handles, a starry sky and many post-up movements is not so common in today’s basketball brand. He proudly represented his hometown of Memphis for most of his basketball career, making him a household name for many today.

The roots go back to the halls of Memphis State University, now known as Memphis University. Hardway had to miss the 1990-91 season with the Memphis Tigers due to a lack of academic training.

But while he was sitting, he was robbed at gunpoint outside his cousin’s house and shot in the leg, endangering his career. With the intention of getting back on the road to recovery through the courts and beyond, he finally drew up a list of university deans with an average score of 3.4 in special education.

In the summer of 1992, Penny Hardaway was selected to join the U.S. Basketball Development Team to participate in the daily battles against the 1992 Olympic team, where he played with Chris Webber, Bobby Hurley, Jamal Mashburn, Rodney Rogers, Eric Montross, Grant Hill and Allan Houston.

Hardway returned to the junior campaign in the 1992-93 season and increased his average to 22.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. He was eventually named the first U.S. consensus team and was a finalist for Naismith College’s Player of the Year and the John R. Awards. Houten, which is awarded annually to the best basketball player in the college.

After a fruitful amateur career, Hardaway was selected in 1993 as the third winner of the State Golden Warriors competition for NBA design. Eventually it was sold to Orlando Magic with three future first elections in exchange for the right to run Chris Webber’s general election.

Initially The Magic planned to recruit Webber and pair him with Shakeel O’Neill, until Hardway expressed the wish to play with a big budding man and asked for a second practice session to show why he should be their choice. Two days before the design Hardaway took part in a basketball game with several Magic players and local talent and made enough impact on the organization to make the design day a trading day.

Hardaway helped Magic set up his first playoff scaffolding for the playoffs and the first 50 winning seasons in the history of the franchise. He has an average of 16 points, 6.6 assists, 5.4 rebounds per match. He won the first NBA rookie team and Chris Webber received the NBA Rookie of the Year award.

During the 1994-95 season. Magic won 57 games with a franchise record – 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. He voted as a starter in his first NBA All-Star game and was named the first NBA All-Star team at the end of the season.

The productive 2-1 win that he and O’Neill scored put the Chicago Bulls out of business and propelled his team to the NBA finals, where they faced the Houston Rockets. Hardway and the rest of Magic were dragged into the championship series, where he scored the standard 25.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 8 assists in the series, while shooting 50% of the field in four games.

O’Neill left Hardaway in the low season for the Los Angeles Lakers as a lone fighter on his way to the Magic in the 1996-97 season. He fought throughout the season, but still managed to win the title of third-year star in the game for the NBA All Star title.

Penny Hardaway reportedly turned around during the season, with only 33 games left, and then set fire to the main bus Brian Hill. In 59 regular season games he achieved an average of 20,5 points, 5,6 assists, 4,5 rebounds and 1,6 steels per game and was selected for the third All-NBA team.

Magic made the playoffs with 45 winning seasons. In the playoffs Magic fell 0:2 against Miami Heat in the first round. Hardaway then scored 42 points in Game 3 and 41 in Game 4 to make Game 5 in Miami. He was the first player in NBA history to score 40 points in consecutive playoff games when his team had not yet scored 100 points. He was also the first player to score 40 points in the play-offs against Pat Riley’s team.

Hardway tried to get the team back and scored in the 5th minute. Playing 33 points, but as a result, Magic ran out of gas and ran out of heat. Hardaway finished the playoffs with an average of 31 points, 6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. His play-off average went from 31.1 to 31.1 for the Chicago Bulls Michael Jordan.

The devastating injury to his left knee, which occurred at the beginning of the 1997-98 season, required surgery and forced him to sit out most of the season. Despite his injury he voted for the fourth time in a row for the All NBA Stars match.

However, he has been criticized for trying to return to the All-Star game sooner than expected. He played his last game a week after the All Stars and missed the rest of the season. In 19 matches he has an average of 16.4 points, 4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.5 steels.

In the summer of 1999, at the instigation of Jason Kidd of the Phoenix Sun, Hardway was sold for Danny Manning, Pat Garrity and two future first-round creations.

In 369 regular season games against Magic, Hardway averages 19 points, 6.3 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. In 45 playoff matches he gained an average of 21.8 points, 6.5 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 steals.

Penny Hardaway arrived in Phoenix from Orlando prior to the 1999-2000 season to transform what the Suns called Beckurt 2000 with another star defender, Jason Kidd.

Despite this promising tandem, due to injuries to Hardway’s leg and ankles, Hardway could only play together in 45 games and set a record of 33-12 with both players of the team. Eventually the suns set a record 53-29, and on their way to the play-offs they picked up the fifth seed at the Western Conference. Due to his ankle injury, Kidd missed most of the first round of the series against defending champions San Antonio Spurs.

Hardway won a triple victory in tiebreaker 3, allowing the sun to destroy the tracks in four games. In the semifinals of the Western Conference Hardway then met his former teammate in O’Neill and the Lakers. In 5 games Sunshine did not reach the possible champion, the Lakers, where Hardway steals an average of 20,3 points, 5,7 assists, 4,9 rebounds, 1,6 and block by block in 9 playoff games.

Despite the losses, there was still optimism that the sun would enter the 2000-2001 season. However, two surgeries on Hardway’s left knee microfracture caused him to miss all but four games this season. In those four games he has an average of 9.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.5 steels.

In the 2003-2004 season. Penny Hardaway mixed the departure of Sun and Sun The growing uncertainty about her role in the team led to the exchange in January 2004. It was presented to the New York Knicks with Stephon Marbury and Cesari Tribansky Reserve Center in exchange for Howard Aisley, Maciej Lamp, Charlie Ward and Antonio McDais.

In addition, Sans also received the project for the rights of Milos Vujanic and two first-round projects. He has an average of 8.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 34 matches for Sun. The Phoenix used a hat room excavated by this agreement to sign free agent joker Steve Nash in a huge deal that began in 2004-05.

The duo Hardway and Marbury finally helped the Knicks climb to the bottom of the rankings to advance to the NBA play-offs in 2004. The Knicks lost the first round of the series to the New Jersey Nets, where Hardaway led his team to two playoff games, averaging 16.5 points, 5.8 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steels in the series.

Hardway spent most of the 2004-05 season with a few injuries. His performance was limited and ended the season with an average of 7.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2 assists in 37 games.

Hardway had his worst fight of the 2005-2006 NBA season, in which he played only four Knicks games and tried to rehabilitate his arthritic knees. On average he scored 2,5 points, 2,5 rebounds and 2 assists in these matches.

When the Knicks saw him run off the track because of his injuries, they decided to make it to the 22. February 2006, Penny Hardaway returns to Orlando with Trevor Ariza to trade with Steve Francis. The Magic, who then repaired Brian Hill as the main bus, suddenly dropped Hardway’s $15.8 million contract, just five days after the buyout to save money and space in the hat.

The 9th. August 2007 Hardaway was signed by Miami Heat for a minimal veteran and reunited with former teammate Shakeel O’Neill. On the 12th. In December 2007, he was suspended in the Miami Heat to make way for a team of free agent Luke Jackson.

In 15 seasons in the league, Hardway has an average of 15.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists. He also completed the first NBA team in 1994 and the third in 1997, as well as two first NBA test entries and four All-Star entries.

In 2011, Hardaway decided to start his career as head coach and took over the role of coach from his friend Desmond Merriweather at Alma Mater, Lester High School, while Merriweather was being treated for colorectal cancer. He coached Lester Lvov to the West Tennessee State title after finishing season 28-3.

Hardway, as well as celebrities such as Peyton Manning and Justin Timberlake, was also named a member of the group of owners who acquired a minority stake in the Memphis Grizzly franchise.

The 19th. In March 2018, he was hired as head coach of his alma mater, the Memphis Tigers, to replace the former head coach Tubby Smith. In his first year as head coach, Hardaway led the Tigers to an NCAA Invitational National Tournament (NIT).

In the season 2019-2020. Hardaway formed the nation’s first recruiting class after recruiting top high school player James Wiseman, former Kentucky D.J. Jeffries, former Duke commit Boogie Ellis and other top fans. He managed to do another five-star recruitment from the top 20 of Dragotsnaya Achiuwa, who joined the Tigers at the end of the season.

Unfortunately, Penny Hardaway did not witness the high hat on her star list due to alleged problems with enrollment in the Weizman School and the shortened season caused by the COWID 19 pandemic.

A Tennessee resident could have achieved more in his NBA career if he had not been hindered by the numerous injuries that ultimately reduced his total risk of explosion. Despite the challenges he faced, Hardway was always a hardwood showman who provided exciting entertainment for basketball fans around the world.
