The Hammers were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend, but the London outfit bounced back with a win against the Clarets at Turf Moore on Sunday afternoon. After Joe Hart saved brilliantly from Ashley Barnes, Michail Antonio opened the scoring for the Hammers in the 65th minute, before doubling his and his team’s tally with an outstanding strike from 25 yards out from a West Ham counter attack.
Only Paolo Di Canio (47) and Mark Noble (46) have scored more Premier League goals for West Ham than Michail Antonio (45).
Michael Antonio scored twice as West Ham beat Burnley to continue their fight for the top four in the Premier League.
Burnley striker Chris Wood converted a penalty kick in the first half before Antonio headed in Vladimir Kuphal’s goal.
The second goal came eight minutes later when Antonio hammered the ball into Saeed Benrahma’s goal.
West Ham had plenty of chances to extend their lead, but Burnley could have made it 2-2 through a Jay Rodriguez goal from close range.
The performance is encouraging for the Hammers, who have moved up to fifth in the table, just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
Burnley remain nine points above the relegation zone with four games to go.
There will be others.
