The Los Angeles Clippers could be number one in our current NBA standings, thanks to an impressive 2-0 start – a season’s victory against the Los Angeles Lakers and a Christmas Day victory against the Denver Nuggets.

Then came Sunday.

In today’s game, the Dallas Mavericks took a 50-point lead and won 124-73, the worst loss of the Clippers in the team’s history.

The Milwaukee Bucks lost to the New York Knicks by 20 points and the Cleveland Cavaliers knocked out the Philadelphia 76ers by 24 points.

What does this mean for us? Here the 30 teams are one week after the start of the 2020-21 campaign.

Pay attention: During the regular season, our panel (Tim Bontemps, Nick Friedell, Andrew Lopez, Tim McMahon, Dave McMahon, Eric Woodyard, Royce Young and ESPN’s Om Youngmisuk) evaluates the 30 teams from top to bottom to determine which teams are currently playing their best basketball and which are most likely to claim the title.

1. Los Angeles Lakers
2020-21 Record : 2-1
Previous assessment : 1

The Lakers’ attack spilled the beans the first night and scored only 109 points on 46.9% of the shots (31% of 3) against the Clippers before exploding in the next two games. Los Angeles scored 138 points against Dallas in the next game. Three players scored 20 or more points and five scored double digits. After that, there were 127 points against Minnesota – a game where Anthony Davis was sitting – with six players scoring 10 points or more. — McManaman.

2. Brooklyn Nets
2020-21 Record : 2-1
Previous assessment : 4

The Nets ended the season with a surprise loss for the Hornets, but the first week of the season was marked by a major victory. The Nets were fantastic in the first two games, they defeated the Warriors and took command in the second half against the Celtics. More importantly, Kevin Durant, back from an Achilles tendon injury, showed no signs of weakness in any of the three games. And his partnership with Kyrie Irving started. The duo played against each other and had a good rhythm. The defeat of the Hornets highlighted a concern that some people have about the Nets: the lack of a consistent third marker. — Young people

While the first two games were a psychiatric test to see where the Clippers are mentally after the collapse of the bubble, Tyronn Lue’s team succeeded. They saw the big traces fade away, but hung in there to ruin Laker ring night and Christmas in Denver. But after losing a bleeding Kawhi Leonard in that winning over the Nuggets, the Clippers did not show up for their Sunday morning match, falling 50 points behind at half and suffering the worst loss in franchise history against Dallas. -Youngomisuk

4. Milwaukee Bucks
2020-21 Record : 1-2
Previous ranking : 2

Milwaukee opened the season with a 1-2 score after losing 20 points in New York City on Sunday, the Bucks’ second biggest loss under coach Mike Budenholzer. According to ESPN Stats & Information, the Bucks are the fifth team in the last 30 seasons to become the favorite with 13 points or more and lose more than 20 points. Milwaukee always tries to find a groove with his new additions, especially the old All-Star Jrue Holiday. Giannis Antetokounmpo, MVP and reigning defensive player of the year, also tries to lead his team in the right direction after a short off-season. — Woodyard.

5. Miami Heat
2020-21 Record : 1-1

The team of Eric Spoelstra found his rhythm for Christmas with a nice victory over the Pelicans. Duncan Robinson’s development continues to give the other teams good external options, and the activity of recruiting Precious Achiuwa is a good sign for the future. Heat will continue to follow Jimmy Butler’s minutes closely – especially after he had to leave Friday’s game with an ankle injury. — Friedell.

6. Philadelphia 76ers
2020-21 Record : 2-1
Previous assessment : 7

The first week in Philadelphia under Dr. Rivers was disappointing because the 76ers didn’t look very impressive and beat the Wizards and the Knicks before being wiped out by the Cavaliers. Another point of concern is the back of Joel Embiid, who attended Sunday’s race in Cleveland with a back injury. — Good time.

This week: TOR, @ORL, CHA.

7. Boston Celtics
2020-21 Record : 1-2
Previous ranking : 6

Boston is one miracle away from the start of the season 0-3 on three points. Yes, the Celtics were facing the top three teams in the East, but the combination of lack of depth and strength, especially without Kemba Walker, is clear. Until he gets better, this team’s probably gonna fight. — Good time.

8. Utah Jazz

It will take some time for Bojan Bogdanovic to regain his shape after the wrist surgery that prevented him from playing on the bubble. Bogdanovic, who was not allowed to intervene before the start of the training camp, played only 8 minutes 30 on the ground during the first two games of the Jazz. — McMahon.

Nikola Jokic left nothing to chance and missed the start of the season by a single rebound with a triple. But Jamal Murray seemed to have his shot on the line until he finally hit the Clippers in the second half. In the two games so far, the Denver defense has missed the glue of guys like Jerami Grant, Mason Plumlee and Torrey Craig. Michael Porter Jr. needs more than nine shots against the Clippers. -Youngomisuk

After an embarrassing Christmas loss for the Lakers, the Mavs focused on defense in intense training. Dallas responded by bringing the Clippers within 51 points. We showed who we are, said Luka Doncic after Sunday’s victory. People judged us after the first two games of the season. It’s a long season, but we have to keep going. We have to play defense. 13. Portland Trail Blowers
2020-21 Record : 1-1
Previous grades : 9

C.J. McCollum’s 44-point explosion – including the winner of the match – against the Rockets gave the Blazers a decent first week after their 20-point loss to the Jazz. But both games revealed some initial concerns for Portland. As in previous seasons, the Bank of the Blazers has been inconsistent. The bench was concentrated in the off-season with a few additions, which can be seen during the season. But it’s not a good sign if Gary Trent Jr., one of your best players on the bench, only plays for six minutes and doesn’t score against Houston. — Young people

14. New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans won their first two games of the season with Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson on defense. In their two victories, the Pelicans kept their opponents below 100 points. Last season they only managed to do it four times in 72 games. Partly due to the pace, but the Pelicans started to improve defensively at the end of the season and that’s what they seem to be doing. — Lopez.

He has already taken penalty kicks in the beginning of the regular season and scores 37 points in 12 attempts. This is the highest number of points scored at the time of the shot clock with 12 or fewer attempts. He continued with a 36-point performance to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead to start the game. — Lopez.

James Harden and Christian Wood may not be teammates for long, but the purchase of free agents by the Rockets seems like a phenomenal offensive addition for a permanent MVP candidate. Seven of Harden’s 17 assists in the opening of the Rockets went to Wood, who scored 31 points on 14 of the 22 shots, including six dunks. [Wood] does a lot of things well, said Harden, who scored 44 points. He made me look good tonight. — McMahon.

The young playmaker averaged 22.5 points on 44 percent of shots and seven assists in Sacramento’s 2-0 start. When in Game 3, he was less than stellar – 12 points on 4 of the 12 shots, 4 assists, 5 fouls, 5 reversals – and the Kings lost to Phoenix 116-100. 26. Oklahoma City Thunder
2020-21 Record : 1-0

There is a strange purgatory for teams that reposition themselves, where a real team keeps playing with real players and trying to win. After a strange – and in some ways appropriate – start to the game where the first game was postponed, the Thunder are 1-0 after Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored the winning goal against the Hornets. That’s the problem with the double shift: There will be more good nights, but the last few minutes, when OKC took almost a 13-point lead with 90 seconds to go, showed that there will also be a lot of tough nights. — Young people
