Bride Brittany Matthews says the scary injury to Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes looks good.
Shortly after suspending the 2018 NFL MVP for Sunday’s AFC Division game against the Cleveland Browns, Matthews gave an update on Mahomes’ condition in front of nervous fans.
I’m fine, Patricks is fine, thanks for all the prayers!
WE STILL HAVE A GAME TO WIN, COME ON!!!

That should be a relief for the Chiefs, who preserved a 22-17 victory thanks to Chad Henne’s heroics in the game’s dying moments. The NFL Chiefs will play their third AFC championship game in a row this Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, and hopefully Mahomes will be healthy enough to be on the field.

Mahomes seemed disoriented after ahit in the third quarter.
Despite a serious toe injury early in the game and a visit to the blue medical tent on the sidelines, Mahomes worked limp and led his team to a 19-3 lead midway through the game.
About halfway through the third quarter, however, Mahomes was dealt a painful blow by Browns’ second defender Mack Wilson.
The whiplash from the tackle made the fourth-year appellant visibly unstable, so his teammates had to help him not fall as he tried to get up.

The Chiefs medical team immediately took the 25-year-old to the blue medical tent for a second time, before Mahomes accompanied them to the team dressing room for further examination. He finished the day completing 21 of 30 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns (including one running).
And Reid gives an encouraging update after the game
After the win, head coach Andy Reid was one of the most optimistic about Mahomes.
He got hit in the back of the head and it took his breath away and stuff, so we got him out of there, Reed told reporters Sunday afternoon via Teresa Paylor Sports of Yahoo Sports. He’s doing very well at the moment, which is very positive when you look at him. He] did all the things he had to do. So, let’s see what happens.
The Chiefs’ leading player now has six days to get through the five phases of concussions in the NFL, as detailed here on DraftKings Nation :
Rest and relaxation : The player should rest until the signs and symptoms and neurological examination, including cognitive and balance tests, have returned to their normal levels.
Light aerobic exercise : Under the direct supervision of the team’s medical staff, the player should begin cardiovascular exercises and may also perform dynamic stretching and balance training.
Continuation of aerobic exercises and introduction of weight training : The player follows a supervised cardiovascular workout that increases and can mimic specific athletic exercises, and supervised strength training is introduced.
Specific events linked to football : The player will undertake cardiovascular, strength and balance training and participate in non-contact football activities (e.g. throwing, catching, running and other positional activities).
Full football activity/cleanup : After the team physician authorizes full contact soccer activities, the player must be seen by an independent neurological consultant (INC) assigned to his club. If the INC agrees with the team doctor that the player’s concussion has subsided, the player may participate in the next practice or match at his club.
The reigning Super Bowl champions will spend the next two days developing a plan of attack against a well-balanced Bills team before taking to the practice field next Wednesday. But Reid is expected to address the media – and probably Mahomes – on Monday.
