In a move that shocked the US, a judge has spared a 77-year-old man from jail after he admitted to flashing women in public. Edward Schrock from Alaska pleaded guilty to multiple counts of indecent exposure in a case which saw him exposing himself to women on more than 50 occasions. He also pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license and assault.

A 77-year-old exhibitionist who assaulted his neighbours for eight years has avoided a prison sentence after a judge ruled that his high sex drive was due to prostate cancer. The court heard how Bernard Condron waited in his favourite chair for his victims to get out of bed, then jumped at the terrace doors to show them his genitals. A demented pensioner flashed a woman several times a day for two months, Manchester Crown Court heard. Another neighbor said she saw him masturbating in the yard while watching her get ready for a shower. Despite repeated police visits to this remote street in Salford, warnings and court orders, Mr Condron, who lives alone, has continued to flash for eight years. In his statement, one of the neighbors said: It makes me sick, and every day when my husband leaves the house, I worry about what this man will do next.

I would be shocked if they saw this man with no pants. Condron risked a maximum two-year prison sentence after he confessed to three counts of indecent assault and violated a 2015 sexual harm prevention order that prohibited him from being naked in public for five years. But instead he was sentenced to 12 months’ community service after the court heard he had undergone chemotherapy and was confined to a wheelchair after suffering a massive stroke. The retiree had previously undergone hormone therapy to lower his testosterone levels in an attempt to curb his behavior. He was also sentenced to be registered as a sex offender for five years. Criminal Justice Alan Conrad QC said: It seems that his medical condition and treatment for prostate cancer has caused him to lose his libido, making it highly unlikely that this disturbing behavior will be repeated. He has also had a massive stroke, making it difficult for him to communicate.

Prosecutor Nicholas Clarke said: One of the neighboring women stated that the accused exposed his penis to her when she opened the curtains in the morning, which was part of his routine. She saw Bernard Condron outside the patio door holding his penis, and according to her, this happened almost every day for two months. Some days he masturbated, and other days he rocked back and forth. She didn’t see the fun in it. She realized that since then she had to change her life around him. She was aware of this because she had brought her niece into the house and was worried about whether Condron was really waiting for her to open the blinds in the morning. He sat in his chair and jumped up for 20 minutes with his penis out when the curtains were closed. This happened almost every day for two months. He was released on bail while a psychiatrist was hired to deal with his dementia, but he was arrested again for an incident on the 27th. In April, another neighbor was showering in her bathroom when she looked outside and saw Bernard Condron standing without his pants. He was dressed only in a brown T-shirt and stood there with his penis erect looking out the window to masturbate. This has been going on for a while. She closed the curtains, took a shower and got dressed. Then she came down the stairs and jumped on him screaming: What you allow yourself. But he said nothing, closed the door and pulled down the curtains. One of the women said she just wanted him to stop. It was a constant disturbance, almost daily, for two months. When the police spoke to Mr. Condron, he replied: You can tell him I’m sorry. I can’t help it. I just have the satisfaction of doing it. The court heard that his behaviour had not been repeated since the last incident. During an earlier hearing, attorney Julian Hood said: He’s in bad shape mentally and physically. Medical treatments have been proposed to reduce the likelihood of this behavior by lowering testosterone levels, thereby decreasing sexual proclivity and the ability to achieve and maintain an erection. All the neighbours want this to stop and he is very concerned about her behaviour and really wants her actions to stop too.
