Detroit Pistons guard Delon Wright is protected at the basket by Philadelphia 76ers guard Dwight Howard.
The arms race in the NBA’s Eastern Conference is reaching a fever pitch: The Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks are tied for first place in the playoffs. There are only two weeks left before the trading deadline on the 25th. In March, the league’s No. 1 team remains heavily involved in trade talks.
Numerous players have been mentioned as potential targets for Philadelphia basketball president Daryl Morey. In particular, Toronto Raptors star Kyle Lowry.
On Wednesday, another backcourt player and former first-round pick was again mentioned as someone who could go to the City of Brotherly Love.

James Edwards III and John Hollinger of The Athletic discussed the following hypothetical trades that would result in the transfer of Delon Wright from the Detroit Pistons to the 76ers:
THE GUNS WILL BE FIRED: Ф. Mike Scott, G.F. Terrance Ferguson and the second round.
GET THE 76ERS: G Delon Wright.
As Edwards noted, Wright had recently suffered a groin injury. According to the original schedule, he would not participate in the All-Star break, but he was able to get some light shots before the mid-season break.
Either way, the injury probably won’t prevent him from being included in the deal. Before quitting, Wright played one of his best games of the year, averaging 17 points and six assists per game in the last seven games.
This season he is averaging nearly 11 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds per game. He also hit a career-high 38.4 three-point shots from the long ball.
Edwards also noted that he has a friendly contract that pays him $9 million this season and $8.5 million in 2021-22. In summary, he described the proposed agreement as a win-win situation for the teams involved. Hollinger, however, had some reservations:
The biggest stumbling block I see is Wright being transported to Philadelphia, where his unstable shot will be exacerbated on a roster whose two best players are a giant in the low post and a guard who doesn’t shoot. I think the Sixers are firing Wright because of the passing problems.
Hollinger is also familiar with Wright’s game. When he was vice president of basketball operations for the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019, his team worked with Mark Gasol for Wright, as well as C.J. Miles and Jonas Valanciunas.
Wright was given as the goal of the previous sixs
Whether or not Sixers fans agree to Edwards’ proposed contract, he certainly won’t be leaving left field. In February, Jason Dumas of Bleacher Report and KRON 4 tweeted that Morey and his consulting team were actually interested in both Wright and Oklahoma City Thunder guard George Hill.
In some ways, Hill may be the riskier of the two. At 34, he is six years older than Wright and his best days are long gone. He has also not been in court since January after needing surgery on his right thumb.
However, he could be more reliable than Wright as a bench scorer in the Sixers’ system. In 14 appearances this season, he is averaging 16.1 points in 36 minutes while shooting over 5% from the field and 39% from long range.
As a member of the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2019-20 season, he made 46% of his attempts from beyond the arc, a career high.
