On Sunday, 168 Wing of the Alaska National Guard flew about 80 guardsmen in a KC-135 Stratotanker from Eielson Air Force Base on a seven-hour flight to Andrews Common Base.

The activation of volunteers and the planning of aircraft deployment to the East Coast from Alaska requires careful planning and coordination. This request for assistance from Washington was processed in just two days.
