New England Patriots wide receiver N’Keal Harry, a budding star out of Arizona State University, was the first overall pick in the NFL Draft. Unfortunately, unlike most first rounders, he was traded straight up for a fourth rounder.
The New England Patriots are one of the NFL’s best teams, but after a disappointing season, sports fans may be wondering whether N’Keal Harry is going to be traded.

Twitter users did not take kindly to the New England Patriots’ N’Keel Harry after the former disappointing first-rounder asked for a trade through his business manager on Tuesday.
Later this month, Harry is expected to go to training camp before beginning his third season with the Patriots. A possible battle for a place on the team was likely, with some predicting that Harry would be one of the outsiders. If Harry gets his way, he will make a fresh start at another club where conditions may be different.
Here’s a statement from Harry’s agent, Jamal Tucson, released by Mike Garafolo on NFL.com:
Over the past few months, I have been working behind the scenes with the Patriots to develop a plan that will allow N’Keal to thrive in New England. He has 86 targets in two seasons, which clearly doesn’t match the expectations the Patriots and N’Kiel had of him when they drafted a dominant offensive player who was virtually unstoppable at the top of the college offense. After numerous negotiations with the Patriots, I think it’s time for a fresh start, and it’s best for both parties if N’Keel transfers before training camp begins. Today I informed the Patriots that I am making an official request for a trade on behalf of my client. N’Keel understands that the most important ingredient in production is opportunity. He will continue to work hard to develop and improve his skills after missing much of his first year due to injury. His expectations for his NFL career did not change on selection day. We are convinced that success is within his grasp, and we will do everything in our power to achieve it.
Twitter condemns Harry for histrade request
As you’d expect, everyone who cares at all about the Patriots has given their opinion on Harry’s trade request. Barstool Sports tweeted: Harry N’Keel is asking for a trade in the rudest way possible.
NFL SpinZone called Harry disastrous and said his tenure with the Patriots appears to be coming to an end.
Damon Amendolara of CBS Sports was concerned about the implication that Harry and his agent blamed the Patriots for the player’s failure.
Deadspin tweeted: N’Keel Harry has gone mad.
KC Kingdom and Kansas City Chiefs fans want their team to avoid Harry at the trade market.
Normally I’m all for acquisitions in the Brett Veach rebuild project, but I don’t have a good feeling about N’Keel Harri. He’s just another mediocre receiver, and the Chiefs already have a bunch of them on the roster, so he brings nothing to the table for me.

Sam Monson of Pro Football Focus called Harry an inspiring example for WR scouts.
N’Keel Harry’s story so far is an instructive example of WR scouting.
He dominated in school, but look at HOW he dominated. Contested ball possession + Games created with YAC
Disputed assets are fleeting.
He couldn’t separate in school, he can’t separate now, and now the offense isn’t built around him.

USA Today’s Henry McKenna didn’t bother to do anything other than compare Harry’s stats to other receivers drafted in the first and second rounds of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Harry’s request and rejection of a trade is indicative of the Patriots’ WR development
While most of the jokes were about Harry, some noted that this dishonorable departure is also a testament to the Patriots’ inability to find and develop quality receivers. Vinny Iyer of The Sporting News wrote:
They can’t afford to wait for a third-rounder, which is unlikely with Harry, at least in their offense. Harri, who is only 23 and was one of Arizona State’s best point guards, has too much raw talent to not be interesting. For the Patriots, he was the last wideout to go through the revolving door after not fitting into their demanding schedule.
It’s hard to say how much of the fault lies with Harry and how much lies with the Patriots and their offense. However, this scheme proved to be a failure.
